Burma Cyclone

I've not seen much in the way of news since my last post on Sunday afternoon, so I've just been horrified to see that since then the death toll has now risen to more than 20,000.

This is the worst natural disaster to hit the area since the 2004 tsunami, and there are suggestions that the extent of the damage might be on a similar scale.

Also worrying is that Burma's military rulers said initially that they did not need - and would not accept - international aid. They do now seem to have accepted that they will not be able to cope without overseas help.

The latest report from the BBC is here and there are lots of links from the report to maps, photographs, video clips and other reports.
