Where does your stuff come from?

Three nice parcels arrived for me at school today... a birthday present for my dad which has tenuous geographical links... the "Earth: The Power of the Planet" DVD, and a very interesting looking book called "Confessions of an Eco-Sinner", by Fred Pearce.

Ordered the book after spotting it on Alan's blog last week and reading this article from the Telegraph... Will have to try and find some time between marking and lesson-planning to actually read it!

Hope you enjoy it...
There are some very useful chapters on certain products and the linkages that are made between ourselves and places in other parts of the world.

I've read an article and review in the monthly "Geographical" magazine, and it sounds great. Yet I'm wondering, seen as you now have it, would you say it's an adult book, would it be to hard going for me do you think?

There's also another interesting book called, "The Wrong Kind of Snow" by Antony Woodward and Robert Penn. This also looks very interesting, have you heard of this book as well?

Thanks Alan... it is in a big pile of books to read (along with several others that I've bought on your recommendation)!

Anna - have you read the Telegraph article I linked to? That is the style of the book. I probably wouldn't recommend it to Year 7, and I can't promise that you'll understand every single word, but I am sure that you'd cope perfectly well with it! You will be welcome to borrow it once I have read it... can't say when that will be though!

I've heard of The Wrong Kind of Snow - I've not got it or read it though, so can't tell you much about it.

Well I'm going into Derby tomorrow, to go to Waterstones, so I'll have a look, If I decide to buy it, you can borrow it, if you like.

I've been and had a look at the Eco Sinner book, and "The wrong kind of snow" they both look really interesting, yet I didn't buy them because I thought they would be cheaper online from Amazon, which they are. Yet I'm wondering now if i've made the wrong decision, because buying them online is not very good environmentally. Oh dear, i've made a big mistake.
